MINTER LIGHTSYNTH ON XBOX 360
16/05/2005 - UK game industry veteran Jeff Minter, noted founder of Llamasoft, announces that one of his so-called light synthesizers, dubbed Neon, will be built into the upcoming Xbox 360 gaming console.
Neon is capable of "generating anything from soothing ambient swirls to strobing multicolor explosions" and is "infinitely configurable thanks to its modular nature." Neon can take cues from any audio input, or can be controlled by up to four joy pads, each taking care of a different display element. "At last, after more than 20 years' work, one of my light synths is going to reach a decent sized audience," exults Jeff Minter.
In late 2004, Minter had to cancel the work on Unity, an experimental "abstract shooter" developed in collaboration with Peter Molyneux's Lionhead Studios. (via GAMEHOTEL)
