SPORE PREVIEW
14/03/2005 - GAMEHOTEL guest Will Wright, the creator of The Sims, gives a
sneak preview of his latest simulation game, Spore, and pays tribute to
the demo scene.
In his inspiring talk at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the famous game designer demoed how players will be able to control life forms ranging from single cells up to entire galaxies.
During his GAMEHOTEL appearance, Wright said: "You can step back from almost any system, whether it's biology, or economics, or sociology, and view it in a more abstract sense of information processing, complexity, and dynamics. And these are the things that we want to build into our games. We do it by studying real life, abstracting what those elements and textures are, and then modeling it back into our games in simple ways. And so our games will feel, to a certain degree, as complex and unpredictable, and chaotic, and interesting as the real world around us."
More details on the Spore game, which is being developed by Maxis, should be available at E3. (via GAMEHOTEL)
