FIRST PENGUIN AWARD
01/03/2005 - Richard Bartle, co-creator of the world's first multi-user dungeon (MUD), will receive this year's First Penguin Award.
The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has created the First Penguin Award to celebrate "the courage and bravery" of game developers who are first to test new gaming concepts. Last year's winner was Japanese rhythm action game developer, and GAMEHOTEL guest, Masaya Matsuura.
During the 5th annual Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony at GDC in San Francisco, IGDA will also give special recognition to UK-based collective Blast Theory; they will receive the Maverick award. The Community Contribution award, which was taken home two years ago by GAMEHOTEL guest Doug Church, will go to Sheri Graner Ray. (via GAMEHOTEL)
